Presentation by Richard Stallman in Hungary
Floss Farm’s guest in March is Richard M. Stallman, the free software activist of international renown, initiator of the GNU project, and founder and president of the Free Software Foundation. The evangelist of free software will give his presentation on Friday, 13th March 2009 in Millenáris.
Richard Stallmann laid the foundations of the philosophy of free software in 1984, when he launched the GNU Project with the objective of developing a full-blown and truly free UNIX-like operating system.
Mr. Stallman has been the chief advocate of the cause of free software since the 1990s. He spends most of his time campaigning against software patents and the excessive extension of copyright laws. In his speeches he convincingly, yet entertainingly argues for free software, the free flow of knowledge and for community use.
