Constitution‑making in Hungary - Its Aims and Where It Will Lead Us

In March and April 2011, OSA Archivum is organizing a series
of lectures and conferences to discuss fundamental issues
of the current constitution-making process in Hungary.

The opening event will be a lecture by the philosopher János Kis.

Among other sources on human rights violations and cold war history, OSA has a number of outstanding collections documenting the great historical transformations of 1989-1990. It holds the historic records of the Constitutional and Legislative Policy Institute (COLPI), which was established in 1992 under the aegis of Open Society Institute, Budapest. COLPI's main mission was to promote the transition to the rule of law and contribute to the constitutional and legal reforms in the Eastern and Central European countries and the post-Soviet region. COLPI devoted special attention to the consitution-making process of these countries and the analysis and evaluation of various drafts.

Sift through documents from this collection, for example compare a trilingual version of the Constitution of the Republic of Hungary in force as of October 1990 with a Draft prepared in May 1990.
